In today’s fast-paced world, many Christians rely on pastors and other religious leaders to help them understand the Gospel in order to better follow the path of Jesus Christ. Interpretations of the Bible are not always completely accurate in terms of leading a moral life. In this must-see segment of The Beat, host Allen G. Parr let’s everyday Christians in on 5 verses that are commonly taken out of context.
The Beat, which is devoted to educating Christians, covers a wide range of topics including dating, relationship and everyday life. Parr opens this Top 5 list with a passage about Christian judgment that tends to be misused by some.
In Matthew 7:1, the Bible says, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged.” Parr explains that this verse has been widely used to claim that people have no right to judge other people, regardless of their actions. The verse has been appropriated by unethical people to defend themselves by saying “you can’t judge me, the Bible says you can’t.”
In the 5-minute video, Parr points out that Jesus was talking about judgment in a context. In other words, before we pass a final judgment on others, it’s important that we take a long, hard look at our own behavior first. The teaching is not intended to be a defense.
