Associate Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is probably kicking herself now for not retiring five years ago. With the successful appointment of Justice Neil Gorsuch to replace the late Antonin Scalia, President Trump broke the 4-4 judicial tie that had slowed down the court’s previous two sessions. Now that Justice Anthony Kennedy – the so-called “swing vote” on the court – is retiring, Americans may soon be able to rest easier whenever a major Supreme Court decision is looming. Kennedy’s double-mindedness as a judge often led to some “surprise” decision that was unfavorable to the Body of Christ.
However, there has been a string of recent victories for Christians at the Supreme Court. One of the most important for the pro-life movement (so far) was the decision that pro-life pregnancy centers in California can no longer be forced to make abortion referrals. While it is mind-boggling that four Supreme Court Justices argued that forced murder referrals should be legal, we will gladly settle for the win in this instance.
California lawmakers declared, through legislation, that pro-life pregnancy centers were guilty of false advertising by not making automatic abortion referrals to all pregnant women. In the minds of leftwing baby-haters, any pregnancy advice that does not involve Planned Parenthood as part of Step 1 is dishonesty. They cannot conceive of any instance in which preserving the life of a baby is the first option.
These same enemies of God will chain themselves to a government building to attempt to save the life of a convicted killer on death row. Their religious worldview is totally consistent, however: They punish the innocent and fight to free the wicked from just punishment.
Murdering children for personal gain is almost as old as humanity itself. Leviticus 18:21 warns against the practice of child sacrifice:
“And you shall not let any of your descendants pass through the fire to Molech, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I am the LORD.”
Molech, sometimes spelled as Moloch, Milcom or Hillary (Just kidding. Couldn’t resist.), was a Canaanite god that specifically demanded child sacrifice from his adherents, much like the Democratic Party of California.
Often depicted as a large bronze statue of a bull with a hollowed-out base, priests of Moloch would build a fire in the base of the statue. Adherents would then hand over their babies to the priests, to be burned alive. The law concerning child sacrifice is situated in the same paragraph of Leviticus 18 that forbids the abominations of adultery, homosexuality and bestiality. (While bestiality is a misdemeanor in California, we would note that it is one of the only states where pornography depicting bestiality is legal.)
The California legislature did not require pro-life pregnancy centers to carry out abortions (at least, not yet), it was requiring the clinics to provide directions to Molech’s bonfire. Just as Obamacare attempted to force Christian insurance policies to cover abortion, the California legislature likewise wanted to force pregnancy centers to be complicit in the murder of the innocent.
Justice Clarence Thomas, who wrote the majority decision, declared that California’s law targets speakers specifically, and therefore “imposes an unduly burdensome disclosure requirement that will chill their protected speech.”
The majority Democrats in California were not content to simply have pro-life pregnancy centers hand pregnant women a pamphlet for Planned Parenthood; they wanted to compel them to verbalize a recommendation for abortion. Their god is so desperate for the blood of the unborn that liberals are not satisfied to wound a Christian; they stand by with a bag of salt and demand that the Christian pours it on the wound as an added indignity.
Proverbs 28:1 tells us, “The wicked flee when no one pursues,” and the liberal response to this Supreme Court decision, followed by Justice Kennedy’s retirement announcement, is certainly indicative of that.
The left is practically in sackcloth and ashes, predicting that Roe v. Wade will be overturned when President Trump chooses a replacement. (Here’s hoping.) NARAL declared that the Supreme Court has “turned its back on women,” as if this decision was about something other than speech.
At least we finally have them on record admitting that abortion is unconstitutional and only exists in America because of a court decision and not an Act of Congress or the will of the people!
