Celebrity Revival 2017 Broadcast Turns into Huge Success

So much has happened and changed in our country in recent years. It can get truly overwhelming to make sense of everything. More and more people are saying that what our country really needs is revival. And the event Revise Us 2, which was hosted on October 24 by actor and producer Kirk Cameron, came along at just the perfect time.

What was Revise Us 2? It can be called a national, coast-to-coast prayer, praise and worship gathering. And, as the event’s name implies, it was a revival. It was designed to spread hope, courage and unity.

Attendees did not all have to gather in one spot. That’s because the event was shown live at more than 800 movie theatres around the country as it took place at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. Cameron says it was similar to an old-fashioned tent revival meeting.

Why Revise Us 2?

There is a very good reason why Cameron decided to hold the significant event again this year. “We’re being divided about race, about religion, about politics, about gender, about choice,” he explained to Jenna Browder from CBN. “We have so many things causing anxiety like hurricanes and wildfires and tragedies in Las Vegas. We need a path to unity.”

He went on to say, “In my walk with God, I’ve found that whenever I seek to honor God and be a blessing to other people, if that intersects with my acting career or my ability to make a live event or a movie like ‘Revive Us,’ I want to be all in and I do it with all my heart,” he said.

“They used to have revival meetings in a big white tent somewhere, and the community would come,” Cameron said. “Well, think of this as 800 tents, but they’re movie theaters all connected through satellite.”

Cameron is hopeful. He believes awakening in the United States and among Christians has already begun and that the Revise Us 2 will help to propel that awakening forward.

Prominent Guest Speakers

Many of the guest speakers at the Revive Us 2 event are well known. They included retired neurosurgeon, former presidential candidate and current Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson, minister and author Ravi Zacharias, advocate for people with disabilities Joni Eareckson Tada, author Jennifer Rothschild and author Trillia Newbell.

Also speaking were brothers Stephen Kendrick and Alex Kendrick, who created significant films like Fireproof and War Room, Courageous, Flywheel and Facing the Giants. Musical guests were Zach Williams and Christian Cuevas.

With a speaker lineup like that, it is easy to see why the event was widely attended. Many people want to share it with their friends and family or attend it again. Fortunately, an encore event was planned.

Encore Event on November 1

Revise Us took place for the first time in 2016, and with 150,000 attendees it was such a success and inspiration that the event was held again this year. “We prayed. We worshiped. We put our faith into action and something remarkable happened,” Cameron said.

The event is intended to be a springboard for ongoing praise, prayer, worship and revival activities and initiatives. It creates an excellent level of momentum going into the 2017 holiday season and beyond. So despite all of the daily bad news coming at people from many directions, the Revive Us 2 event reminds believers of the Good News of the Gospel message.

Cameron has worked on a variety of influential projects over the years. That includes the Left Behind movies, as well as the movies Fireproof and Monumental. He first became well known when he was a star actor in the popular TV show Growing Pains.
