Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner came on air recently to explain her two-week absence from the broadcast network in November. Faulkner sadly lost her mother to lung cancer in the last month, but fondly remembers her here as a bright spirit who loved to watch her daughter report the news.
Faulkner traveled with her mother all over the world when she was young as Faulkner’s father was in the Army and was stationed in many places including Germany and Atlanta, Georgia. Faulkner has worked at local television stations in Los Angeles; Greenville, North Carolina; Kansas City, Missouri; and Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota.
When Faulkner started at Fox, she was a correspondent for the channel’s A Current Affair show. She later moved on to host Fox News Live and international Fox News Extra segments. Faulkner also acts as a substitute anchor for The Fox Report and has appeared on the network’s Red Eye program as a guest panelist.
In 2014, Faulkner became one of the co-hosts of Fox’s Outnumbered program. Faulkner has been awarded six Emmy Awards including for Best News Special and Best Newscaster in 2005. In 1999, she published a book entitled God Has a Plan — An Anchorwoman’s Journey Through Faith.
In her spare time, Faulkner is also a motivational speaker and has done work for a number of charities including Foster Care Services and the Vietnam Veteran’s Association (her father did three tours of duty there). Watch this moving tribute to her mother and you can see how much Faulkner’s family means to her.
