The gun control debate is nothing new, and the statistics, unsurprisingly, aren’t changing. The liberal media loves to cherry pick data to suggest that owning guns is dangerous, but the evidence otherwise is overwhelming.
Since 1993, gun ownership in America has risen by roughly 100 percent, and gun homicide has dropped by more than 50 percent. An even more compelling argument is that gun ownership has increased by roughly 20 percent since President Obama took office, and the homicide rate has continued to drop, all the way below 3.6 per 100,000.
Another common liberal strategy is to compare the U.S. to other “developed” countries. They usually pick the 10 countries that actually have lower homicide rates, ignoring countries like Norway and Finland.
Lastly, most of those arguments have to average homicides since 1993 to claim the U.S. has 10 homicides per 100,000. The real number for 2014, the most recent with fully compiled statistics, is 3.6. America itself is unequivocal proof that reducing gun ownership does not reduce homicide.
