With the Presidential Inauguration just days away, hearings are taking place in order to approve cabinet members. One of the very best cabinet members to go before congress is Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions for Attorney General.
Typically, when someone goes in front of congress, members of congress will question the individual based on their current thoughts, ideas and ties regarding what they would be doing. As Attorney General, this usually has to do with legal human rights issues within the United States (such as illegal immigration). However, many liberals decided to bring up statements Jeff Sessions supposedly made back during the 1980s and point to these quips as reasons why he should not become Attorney General.
The problem with going back almost 30 years is people often change their minds. Hillary Clinton and Bill Clinton both spoke out against gay marriage at this time and even signed acts limiting gay marriage during the mid ‘90s. However, nobody made a major stink about it during the Presidential Election.
Now, of course the Clintons changed what they said because the notion of gay marriage was not popular in the ‘90s but then the tides changed and now they are for it. Realistically that is why they changed their minds.
So why didn’t Trump bring this issue to light? Because he understands that an idea isn’t set in stone and that the mind can change. A quality leader is able to adapt and change. Yet for some reason liberals have a problem with something Jeff Sessions supposedly said in the 80s (Sessions outright denies he said any of the things Liberals claim he said).
