Traditionally, the Vice President who has served eight years in the position is the leading candidate to run for President of the United States. It is a common practice. George H.W. Bush ran for president following Ronald Regan and Al Gore ran for the presidency following Bill Clinton’s eight years.
Many in the Democratic Party wanted Joe Biden to run for president in 2016, but there were several major factors behind this not happening. The first and most important reason he did not run was because his son had recently died. For anyone who has ever lost an immediate family member, especially a son or daughter, they will understand how nearly impossible it is to concentrate on anything.
The second reason was because Hillary Clinton wanted to run. Now, the Democratic Party will never openly come out and admit to this, but when Bill puts his foot down, he gets his way (not to mention Hillary had leveraged a failed marriage in order to use Bill for such a purpose).
But something changed since then. Joe Biden recently stated he would run against Donald Trump in 2020. Of course, Mr. Biden will be 78 years old at that point, which is a difficult age to become President. Only time will tell though. Watch Biden announce his desire to run and what he says about running against Donald Trump in four years.
