Abraham Lincoln stated in a speech in 1858 that “A House divided against itself cannot stand.” He also said that “I do not expect the Union to be dissolved. I do not expect the house to fall, but I do expect it will cease to be divided. It will become all one thing or all the other.”
Whose truth does America want? The Liberal’s truth? The Conservative’s truth? Or the truth of our Creator? Or is the latter even in the running? And…is there more than one truth?
The bible states that a house divided against itself cannot stand. Of course, the Bible is where Lincoln learned this truth. Jesus said, “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” (Matthew 12:25 NKJV)
The objective for the “March for Truth” in over 100 cities on Saturday, June 3rd, was to make elected leaders aware that Americans wanted the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Organizers of the rallies for truth stated that they were not part of the “resist” Trump efforts and that their democracy was more important than any president.
The protestors carried a variety of signs across America in their hunt for truth including ‘Trump LIAR-in-Chief’ and ‘Dump Trump’. The protestors are seeking an independent investigation concerning the Trump Administration and Russia, and the revealing of Trump’s taxes. They want the truth, but if the final verdict reveals no criminal wrongdoing on Trump Administration’s actions – they have stated that they will not accept these finding’s. Which begs the question: Whose truth do they want?
Another group meeting outside of the White House is carrying signs that state; I Love Trump and Promises Made Promises Kept. This pro-Trump rally was thanking Trump for leaving the Paris-Climate Agreement. They have embraced a different truth.
Which truth is true?
The “March for Truth” rally in Reno, Nevada added a political flair to their summer events taking place in the downtown area. Political activists gathered at the City Plaza, not far from the BELIEVE sculpture. The many protestors shared their beliefs through song, speeches, banners, t-shirts, and signs. Their words flapped in the wind against the huge letters spelling out B-E-L-I-E-V-E.
Believe what? Which sign? The one that says “Trump Care-It’ll Kill You!!!!” or “Innocent people don’t Lie-Truth Trumps lies” or “I stand with Planned Parenthood.”
Only 7 percent of journalists identify themselves as Republicans which leaves a 93 percent trying to come back from the biggest political oversight in history. The Media does not like to be beaten at their own pre-planned game. The Media is supposed to relay the facts—not the facts dressed up in their emotions or beliefs. The media is guilty of creating fear in the public eye by highlighting certain factors and hiding the truths of the entire situation. The whole truth is not being delivered across America with such an uneven balance. America’s truth cannot be left to a lopsided media with “self” at the top of their agenda, not the people.
The deceiving of truth, the slippery slope has been playing out since the Garden of Eden. The serpent asked Eve in the garden, “Did God say you couldn’t eat from this tree? Is he hiding something from you? Surely you can eat from this tree and be like God. The deceiving words spoke to Eve’s emotions, to her flesh. Eve knew the truth but rationalized through self. The truth is more than the emotions of self. The truth is a person. Jesus said, “I am…the truth.” (John 14:6 NIV)
What is truth? This question has been asked in government realms since the days that Jesus walked on earth.
Pontius Pilate, a government official responded with the question “What is truth?” when Jesus said “You say that I am a King. In fact, the reason I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth.
Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.” (John 18:37-38 NIV) Truth cannot be found when self-has already decided.
The rallies and the demonstrations will move onto other topics never resolving the ones that are being protested now. But truth will never change.
Liberal? Conservative? Independent? Creator? Whose side of truth are you on?
