So much for placid retirement! Unlike all previous U.S. ex-presidents, it appears Barack Obama will not be quietly fading off the scene as new Commander-in-Chief Donald Trump takes office and begins his term.
Instead, the Obamas have rented an eight-bedroom house in Washington, D.C. where Barack Obama will be setting up what has been referred to as a “shadow government” that will have as its goal the political harassment and countering of the Trump administration.
With room for no less than 10 cars in its driveway, the house will serve as a headquarters from which Obama can direct opposition to Trump’s platform and policies in an effort to protect his legacy and defend the sacred ground of Democrats. Well-known Democratic lobbyists and operatives will be helping him to try and make Donald Trump’s life miserable through a combination of political action, media appearances, newspaper op-ed and advertisements.
This unprecedented attempt at a partisan insurgency is the talk of Washington, and it appears that over the next four years, Obama’s efforts will be getting much press attention. How effective this will be is anyone’s guess, but Obama’s determination to be a constant thorn in Trump’s side separates him from all former U.S. presidents of the last 100 years.
