This Ron Paul interview (see clip below) needs to be shown to students across the country. He makes a few key points that have been forgotten by the left.
First, he makes it clear that the government does not produce anything, destroying the argument that people cannot have success without government programs. Rather than making roads, the government reallocates funds, ultimately increasing the cost of roads through bloated bureaucracy.
Second, he points out that subsidies have historically produced more failure than success.
Finally, he makes the clear point that the government ultimately imposes its will at gunpoint. How many protests have been sparked when civilians have been shot in circumstances that began as routine stops?
None of these scenarios exist in the first place when government intervention is minimized. There is no service provided by the government that cannot be run more efficiently by a private competitor. It has been demonstrated in every market.
In fact, America succeeded and grew for roughly 140 years before its very first social subsidy was introduced. Since that mold broke, subsidies have inflated the price of everything from houses to education.
History doesn’t lie. The best way to fix broken systems in America is to remove, or at least reduce, the government’s presence.
