Sadie Robertson, motivational speaker, author, and “Duck Dynasty” star, shared with followers on Instagram how her faith brought her through a very scary situation.
Three men had been following Sadie at the mall earlier in the day. She entered the parking garage and saw a white van parked by her car, the same three men that had been following her were sitting inside.
God is good, but Sadie shared realistically with her follower’s, “scary things can happen at any time because until the day Jesus comes back evil will still be in the world.”
The Lord stated in His Word that what the enemy meant for bad – He would use for good for those who believed. Sadie used a frightening moment in her life to encourage others. She shared in her post “I want to encourage you in saying that that’s when the promises of the Lord are something we have to truly be so thankful for. Today more than any I’m thankful to be able to have joy knowing I’m protected in the shadow of His wing.”
Sadie encouraged everyone to pay attention to their surroundings while on their cell phones. And to always be aware of what is going on around them at all times while you are interacting with others in this world. Jesus taught the disciples before sending them out into the world with these words. “Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16 NKJV) Living successfully as a Christian in this world needs to be balanced between the dove and the serpent.
Robertson said, “I am really thankful for good people and the worship band Hillsong United, for the words of their songs that I had embedded in my brain when thoughts of fear were wanting to take over.”
Sadie believed if she had not been paying attention to her surroundings and the Holy Spirit – her life would have changed drastically in the parking garage on that Monday night. She was able to call her dad, Willie, who answered and brought a calming to her spirit.
And the call she placed to her Heavenly Father enabled the sending of the Holy Spirit to comfort and protect Sadie in her time of need.
The Lord tells us to pray without ceasing and this is also what Sadie shared with her follower’s – “Be aware, always be in prayer, trust your ‘weird feelings’ (Spirit Checks), and call your accountability ALWAYS no matter how sure you are of the situation. We all need help every now and then… don’t be afraid to ask. I’m praying for bravery over every person who encounters a situation like the one I did tonight.”
When Sadie was about five years of age her parents nicknamed her “the original” after she preached a sermon to her parents on God’s love. The nickname stayed with her and became the inspiration for the title of her book “Live Original: How the Duck Commander Teen Keeps It Real and Stays True to Her Values.”
Living original takes courage, which is what Sadie states in her book. But the courage and confidence that she has – is found in God.
Robertson’s Instagram post was “liked” by over 8000 people with responses of encouragement and thankfulness for her safety.
Sadie also shared this scripture verse on her post “I lie awake thinking of you, meditating on you through the night. Because you are my helper, I sing for joy in the shadow of your wings. I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely.” (Psalm 63:6-8)
The Live Original Author recently appeared on the front cover of the newly re-launched Brio magazine for teen girls and is getting ready for her second Live Original Tour in the fall. With the word “fearless” tattooed on her arm – Sadie tells the world that she conquered her fears with the help of God.
Sadie shares in her book “your thoughts determine your destiny. If you want to get a glimpse of where you are headed in the future, start by looking at what you’re thinking about today.” It can also keep you safe in parking garages and guard your heart in all areas of life. “If God is for you – who can be against you.”
