The War on Christmas Is Real, Alive and Well

President Trump promised to end the war on Christmas. He said he would make it ok for Americans to be Christian and celebrate their ultimate holiday. While he is keeping his promises, it’s ultimately not a war he can win. It’s up to us. The war on Christmas is still alive and well.

Here are just a handful of the most recent examples since Thanksgiving. It is only by maintaining awareness and facing the problem head on that we can play our part and help America regain its Christian roots.

New Hampshire Veteran

A veteran by the name of John Fletcher was dealt backlash recently. He and his wife organized a free Christmas celebration for kids in the area. He was handing out flyers when representatives of the school forced him to stop. They said he was violating school policy because the flyers had the word “Christmas” on them. It doesn’t matter that the event wasn’t school sponsored. It also didn’t matter that the school was clearly violating Fletcher’s 1st Amendment rights.

Instead, the rule of the left is that it is impossible for Christians to celebrate their most sacred holiday without it somehow infringing on the rights of others. It’s a ridiculous notion, but they have managed to push it on our society. Thankfully, Fletcher simply put a little whiteout on his flyers and then had the celebration anyway.

UCF

At the University of Central Florida, a professor, Terry Fine, is now promoting the use of the phrase “Happy Federal Holiday.” Apparently the liberal school has circled past the absurd and into the unfathomable. Forget “Merry Christmas” being offensive. Now “Happy Holidays” is an exclusive phrase because it lumps Christmas with other, liberally approved holidays.

It would be one thing if this was just an overbearing professor, but the university is seriously contemplating his advice. And the left tried to claim they don’t want the state above all else.

Charlotte Mall

In North Carolina, a mall replaced their traditional Christmas tree with a glacier. They claim they were simply trying to bring a fresh new look to Christmas (which many might find blasphemous), but the traditionalists of the south made their voices heard. It’s worth noting that the display still had a Santa greeting.

It’s also interesting that no one from the left had anything to say. Even though it was still a Christmas display, the deliberate secularization of a religious holiday was quite to their liking. They aren’t actually against Christmas. They’re against Christianity.

Massachusetts

Rounding our most recent list of anti-Christmas events is a school district in Massachusetts. They started by ruling that the school board and official documents could no longer refer to the winter holiday as “Christmas break.” Instead, any reference has to exclude any variation of the name of Christ. I don’t see how banning any mention of the country’s leading religion is in keeping with the 1st Amendment, but I’m also not a crazy liberal.

In another event, the same district cancelled a school trip to see The Nutcracker. Why? The set included a Christmas tree. Let’s stop for a moment. Even though we often use the word Christmas to describe these trees, they don’t carry signs with the name. Instead, the presence of a pine tree is now unforgivably offensive to the left. You will not find similar backlash from the left against a display of Menorahs or Muslim head coverings. It is only directed at Christianity.

If anyone ever wants to question the true power of Christian faith, they need look no further than American liberals. Whether they claim atheism or not, they are visibly terrified of even the slightest mention of the name of Christ. The power to strike such fear in the hearts of people who claim not to believe in God is proof enough of unmistakable power.

The left will have their excuses handy, but we know the truth. They tremble at any reminder of their ungodliness, and even if they won’t ever speak it, in their heart of hearts they know their fate. The right thing for us to do is keep Christmas and our faith alive and well and on constant display. It is through that effort that we can hope to guide the lost.
