Israel has long been an important ally to the United States in the Middle East. In fact, it is one of the few concrete allies the U.S. has in this area of the world. Now, other countries might state allegiance with the United States, but then turn around and do the exact opposite (just look at Pakistan housing and protecting Osama bin Laden right around the corner from the nation’s version of West Point).
Despite Israel being an important ally, President Obama has seemingly done everything in his power to avoid helping Israel. It is one of the major reasons why the small yet powerful country has been looking forward to incoming Donald Trump (because Donald Trump understands the importance of having this kind of an ally on our side).
With only days left in Obama’s presidency, he can’t do too much more to alienate our most important ally in the Middle East, can he? Unfortunately he can and he will.
President Obama will join 69 other nations to convene about peace in the Middle East. Ultimately though, it will handcuff Israel’s ability to protect itself and likely strip land from the nation in order to give to Palestine, an area mostly controlled by violent Sunni Muslims.
These events date back to biblical times and for thousands of years, Israel has laid claim on this very small area. Yet, as one of the final actions Obama takes, he may end up taking away Israel’s claim to this land.
