Ways Christian Women Can Lead Their Families

A common misconception secular people make about Christian marriages is that they are either unbalanced or purely led by the husband. That idea is not consistent with God’s message of love and fellowship. Men and women join into holy matrimony with complimentary roles to fulfill.

Being the bread winner is not more important than child rearing and many women in traditional Christian marriages add value to their families by taking on the role of spiritual leader. And, considering how difficult economic stability has become, the Christian leadership provided by wives and mothers has become increasingly valuable.

The importance of steadfast Christian connectedness between husband, wife, children and Him cannot be underestimated. The teachings of Jesus Christ form the very foundation for Love and marriage is a real-life manifestation of that principle. Keep in mind that mothers are often the primary source of Love and understanding for children.

Importance of Being a Devoted Christian Mother

Consider Titus 2:3–5, that says, “Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to too much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

While some Biblical interpretations discuss the husband as the sole spiritual force in the family, Paul’s instruction to Timothy points to the importance of women’s spiritual place. Mothers, and women in general, can have a profound impact on children and other members of the community. This can be accomplished through everyday love-giving and guidance.

The basic nurturing of children expresses a relationship that parallels God’s love of His children, human beings. A mother’s tangible, daily caregiving can be a valuable tool to teach youngsters about their place in the world. By explaining the sacrifice Jesus Christ made for people while investing time into children, a higher level of Gospel understanding can be achieved. Making the connection between a mother’s love and God’s love can be immensely powerful in terms of spiritual growth.

Importance of Being a Devoted Christian Wife

There are times when wives find that their husbands are leading the spiritual aspects of the family in ways that they did not expect. These differences about expectations can be concerning because they can form a gap in your marital understanding about the direction of the family. It’s important to lean on the power of prayer in these cases rather than claiming a husband has not met expectations.

The tools mothers employ to demonstrate love and devotion to children are also valuable assets in the husband-wife relationship. Giving praise to each other for good works reinforces the positive and may help motivate each other’s desire to go further and be better Christians and family members.

Some wives find that by laying the heart out about how they view Christian marriage can help create a dialogue. This approach stands in sharp contrast to pestering your spouse about unmet expectations. Because many men are goal oriented, your husband may strive to either explain his vision or elevate his Christian presence at home.

It’s also important to understand that Christian motherhood is a powerful force that demands respect. When mom says that the children are required to attend regular services and get a Christian education, that sets a benchmark in the family. In other words, women can lead their family by being part of the church.

Importance of Marital Intimacy

Secular culture promotes a wide range of images that intimacy between men and women is primarily physical. In Christian terms, it erodes love and replaces it with lust. These images are fairly constant and can have a negative impact on the marriage. Fortunately, women are a tremendous source of love and compassion in the family.

Linking the heart and physical intimacy helps elevate the marriage and keep it spiritually whole. God did not make physical touching pleasant so that human beings could just rub their bodies against each other. This is not to say that lovemaking should be limited to only heightened emotional connection.

As human beings, men and women have strong desires. The point is that maintaining a connection between the heart and body furthers marital and spiritual love. This is another area women lead with grace, dignity and strength.

At the very core, women are powerful spiritual beings that bring invaluable assets to their families. Christian women bring undeniable love to their families that can spiritually enrich all.
